Domination = 13 (12+1)
Fragility
Virulence
Phantom Pain

Use the search thread for fragility/virulence builds. I've seen them in action, they can take down an individual in a flash.

well for taking down indiviuals aas fast as possible with a mesmer you generally cant beat fragility -> phantom pain -> shatter delusions -> virulence for damage potential It can be countered, but thats generall the fastest way.
Never really tried to solo with a mesmer sorry,

It can be countered very, very easily.
You can play one if you insist, but you're pretty much confined to Arena, and if a Hex Breaker hits...you might as well sit there and do nothing. Really a Mesmer is not a character for soloing or killing quickly.

ya know, my monk is a Mo/Me and I absolutely love hex breaker for just that reason. Hex Reliant people just get pwned. Lately, though, people have been getting wise. I think the larger portion of the gw community now realizes that when they see Mo/Me, expect hex breaker. Often times, now, Enemies refuse to hex me, going straight for my friends instead. Either that or they try to waste hex breaker by throwing a couple cheap hexes my way so they can land the one they want. If ithat happens to me nce during a match, sometimes to counter the next time, when I see HB fall, I wait to cast HB until after the 2nd hex hits (its usually something dumb) and then put it up to block the big boy (frag, backfire, you know)
Its turned into a really fun rock-paper-scissors. I <3 HB.

Here is a solo build for Me/N, focus on survival as well as some damage, mainly against a melee mobs. You can use it to solo certain areas but need a lot of care to do so.
Attributes: 12 on death magic and illusion, 7~8 on inspiration and fast casting (with some boosts from minor and major runes)
Skills:
Epidemic or Putrid Explosion or Clumsiness
Phantom pain
Enfeeble
Virulence (elite)
Distortion (stance)
Spirit of Failure
Ether feast
Energy tap
For damage, cast enfeeble followed by virulence to cause disease, poison(?), weakness with disease capable of spreading from one to another. Enfeeble is used only because virulence needs a condition to trigger it and it is very cheap with only 5 energy cost. You don't need any point in Curse as it still give you 5 sec, enough for virulence to follow. Cast phantom pain as soon as possible and epidemic whenever you feel your energy is plenty. For energy boost and self-preservation, cast spirit of failure and distortion. Make sure you hit distortion as soon as it expires, not only it protects you, it can combine with spirit of failure to give you energy whenever enemy fails to hit. Use energy tap in emergency when you find your energy pool is dry and ether feast to boost hp.
Now, I agree with above posts that Me is not a good solo class because Me is way too squishy. But with this build you can stand up to 3 minotaurs or griffiths. With two armor+5 mods on your staff you should survive at least for a while. I'm all ears to any constructive criticism.

It takes 13 sec. for one, about 17 seconds for two lvl 20 minotaurs, and roughly 20 sec. for 3, with purtid explosion used. It's slow, but for a solo pve build the main focus should always be on survival first and damage second, especially for a soft Me being hit by multiple beasties. Like already mentioned, the idea is to keep distortion on all the time, cast spirit of failure on multiple mobs, and keep disease (+/- poison) draining life on multiple targets. You should not lose more than 1/3 of health and should not run out of energy, and just wait for mobs to die.
